Spend Time in Southwest Minnesota

Southwest Minnesota has it all, whether you’re a history buff, friends looking for a night out at local breweries and wineries, or a family looking for a weekend getaway with unique shopping opportunities.

The wide-open prairies, once roamed by buffalo, are now characterized by rolling crop fields mixed with quaint farming towns, filled with history, charm, and authentic hospitality.

While the stunning prairie vistas certainly offer options for biking, fishing, hiking, camping and hunting, there is so much more for you to experience on your unforgettable journey.

Sit on the lawn of the historic Dinehart-House in Slayton and enjoy the annual family-oriented night of music off the front porch on a cool summer night. Take a spin on a train turntable or stroll through stunning authentic pioneer-era school house at the End-O-Line Railroad Park and Museum in Currie.

Be sure to enjoy the cultural events that take place throughout the Southwest Minnesota Region, such as The Windsurfing Regatta and Music Festival in Worthington or the Sounds of Summer Festival in Marshall.

Breweries and Wineries are popping up throughout Southwest Minnesota, including: Brau Brothers Brewing Company in Marshall, the Round Lake Vineyard outside of Worthington, the Painted Prairie Vineyard outside of Currie, and the Take 16 Brewing Company in Luverne.

Southwest Minnesota is home to some surprisingly unique museums and monuments, like the Spomer Motor Classics in Worthington, and the 9/11 Memorial in Marshall, where visitors can look, touch and pay respect to one of the iconic Twin Towers of the World Trade Center.

Sit on the banks of Plum Creek, where the stories of Laura Ingalls Wilder come to life in Walnut Grove, or the Jeffers Petroglyphs; let your imagination soar.

You won’t be disappointed in Southwest Minnesota, It is worth every minute of it! #onlyinswmn
