Established in 1981, German Fest Milwaukee, Inc. strives to keep German culture and tradition alive. This year’s volunteer-based festival, and one of the largest authentic German ethnic festivals outside of Germany, will be held July 28th, 29th, and 30th. Bring the whole family to experience traditional music, food, shopping, and rich culture at German Fest. Admission on Friday is just $3.
Dance and sing along with German bands direct from Germany, as well as German bands from across the United States. Youth and adult dance groups will perform throughout the weekend representing the influences of various German regions.
Bring your appetite for delicious German cuisine. Compliment your food with a stein of Fest Bier, a glass of wine, or taste the many fine spirits available at the Schnapps’ Garten. Make sure to save room for a scrumptious dessert at the Konditorei, a German pastry shop.
Spend time walking through history in the Culture Pavilion where German Fest celebrates the contributions and enhancements made by German Americans to America’s culture with its 2017 theme “German Traditions.”
New for 2017: STIHL® TIMBERSPORTS® , The Original Extreme Sport, will feature the top lumberjack athletes in the country competing in thrilling chopping and sawing competitions during the 32nd Annual U.S. Pro and Collegiate Championship, being held for the first time in Wisconsin, at GERMAN FEST.
German Fest offers something for everyone. Parades, Sheepshead, Battle of the Mascots, Dachshund Derby, Volkswagen and Model T displays, Carousel Organs, and the fan favorite Glockenspiel are just some of the fun events to be enjoyed. Shop in the German Fest Marktplatz. Attend Sunday’s Catholic Mass. End your Friday and Saturday evening with a dazzling display of fireworks.
